Strategic Planning and Marketing Process: Napa County, CA
Customized Employment Grant
Funded by the Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy, the North Bay Employment Connection completed a 4-year Strategic Plan as a blueprint for activities to create a universally accessible, responsive system of workforce development services for people with disabilities. The regional strategic plan incorporated three goals: 1) increase public awareness of the value of people with disabilities as contributing members of the workforce; 2) build on the current workforce development system to become an integrated, accessible and effective service for people with disabilities; and 3) increase the number of employment opportunities in various occupations for people with disabilities. (For more information on this Plan, please see www.northbayemployment.org and click on current projects.)
NBEC also developed a regional marketing plan targeting job seekers with disabilities, employers in the region and service providers. This marketing campaign incorporated focus group information gathered from over 90 individuals from those three target markets. Local efforts to develop marketing materials has resulted in brochures for employers and job seekers, a revised orientation video for job seekers, and a power-point presentation for service providers utilizing "talking points" or key messages of the campaign.
In addition, there are web sites, and flyers advertising the community about the presence of Disability Navigators and how to access them.
